Dear readers, I have shared several posts in the past, on how some food stalls have been cutting down ingredients and or increasing prices, all likely due to the rising cost of ingredients and inflation.
Sometime back, I shared on how a famous prata chain which I always patronised has seem to cut down on the ingredients in a dish that I ordered (reduced meat in the Murtabak). The Murtabak that I ate had noticeably lesser portion of meat but at the same time, the price of the dish has increased. This is what I called the effects of both inflation and shrinkflation!
I decided to beat inflation at its own game at the most recent visit to the prata chain. The game plan was simple. I have noted that the prata chain prides itself on making the best plain and egg prata, so deliciously done that these forms the basis of the other more elaborate dishes which were done by stuffing other ingredients inside like meat, egg, prawns etc.
I ordered plain and egg pratas and had the chicken and fish curry to go along. I was not left disappointed, for such basic pratas have no meat or ingredients the prata chain can cut, on the pretext of inflation. But at the same time, the chain has still to keep the quality of these most basic pratas the best.
I had a wonderful and enjoyable meal and paid only $3.50 for it.
This is how I beat inflation at its own game!
