Dear readers, I had a wonderful lunch this Sunday afternoon at a hawker centre.
I had a bowl of piping hot excellent minced meat noodles from a food stall which always draws long queues!
I visit the stall occasionally and I finished the noodles and soup, feeling very satisfied. I ordered a large version of the noodles which cost me $5 (regular portion is sold at $4) and it was a value-for-money purchase.
After the meal, I ordered a Kopi-Gao (thick coffee) from a stall nearby at $1.30. I stirred the Kopi-Gao and sipped the Kopi slowly and this is always my favorite moment of the week: sipping nice Kopi-Gao at hawker centre, people-watching and musing over life. This is indeed a Great retreat from my hectic work!
While weekends are very precious for many of us, after five days of work, we do not necessarily need to indulge in restaurant food at expensive prices to pamper ourselves and prior to this, compete with queues at these restaurants.
Such nice treats can be once in a while and to me, restoring my sanity, energy and soul after days of work and work via nice and nourishing food, rest and exercise are more important on weekends.
