Dear readers, today is Mid Autumn Festival and I wish everyone who celebrate mid Autumn festival a Happy Mid Autumn festival and also a Happy Good weekends!
For those who celebrate Mid Autumn Festival, including myself, tonight, let us look at the bright moon in the sky and enjoy the nice mooncakes. I also hope that many families will be out and about tonight, carrying lanterns and walking around in the neighbourhoods.
Somehow, I feel that in recent years, lantern carrying on Mid Autumn day by residents and families here is getting lesser and lesser. And I really hope that we can bring back this good tradition. Mid Autumn festival in these recent years seem to be about new mooncakes with new flavours like durians, green tea or in some kind of new format (like Monopoly). But these to me are like more related to commercial aspect of Mid Autumn, and I really hope kids these days really celebrate Mid Autumn festival in the usual traditional manners like carrying lanterns.
Hence, I am very glad that beside carrying lanterns in previous years by my kids, my wife has decided to up the game this year by teaching my kids to make mooncakes! My wife bought the mooncake ingredients from Phoon Huat and she and my kids made mooncakes yesterday night as according to my kids and wife, it will take about eight hours for the mooncakes to be ready after making. In short, make the mooncakes yesterday night so that they will be ready for consumption today (this mooncake festival day).
If there is one thing I wish all of you here on today’s special day of mid autumn festival, it will be that of Good Health and to continue to Stay Safe and Strong, everyone of you. I said this from the bottom of my heart as a few weeks ago, my family and I contracted the much-dreaded Covid-19, one after another! My family and I were confined in our houses as we battled Covid-19 together! It was then during this period, that I realised just how important health is once again! It was during this period that my family and I became even closer once more, taking care of one another. And also, during this period, I realised just how important food delivery services like Grab is as my wife took to ordering food from Grab to settling most of our daily meals during our staying at home. To the readers who are concerned about my health, I will like to reassure you that I am getting better everyday, though I am still recuperating and being a bit frail. I Thank You All for your kind thoughts and may you and family continue to Stay Safe, Stay Strong!
That is why on this festive day, as many of us partake in the mooncakes or simply enjoy the weekends, let us once again just be Grateful to ourselves, Families and Friends, for coming so far in the new Covid-19 normal. And do continue to Stay Safe, Stay Strong everyone!
A Happy Mid Autumn festival!
