Dear readers, amidst the high cost of living and increasing inflation, I have found myself on the receiving end of higher food prices from basic meals bought outside. I knew such price increases are inevitable, a few twenty to fifty cents increase for some, is still acceptable to me. But I think some increases of food prices are questionable as the quantum was quite large.
Take for example, a plate of breakfast mee hoon with chicken wing, vegetables and eggs which used to cost $4 plus but now is price at more than $5, this of course does not seem reasonable. Hence, I stop patronizing this stall since similar food elsewhere would still cost $3 to $4 plus.
Previously, I have recommended one good and strong coffee to readers at Blk 216, Bedok North Street 1. There are three very popular coffee stalls there and the one that I love the most is none other than Kim Hwa Coffee stall. I don’t go to the stall daily for my coffee fix but when I returned there recently to taste what I believe is Singapore’s best coffee, I was surprised yet again that the stall still charge me $1 for a cup of great coffee (I recommended Kopi Gao Siu Dai)!
Costs of ingredients should have increased for the coffee stall but kudos to the stall holder for still maintaining price at $1.
