Dear readers, amidst the high costs of living here, I am Grateful for two acts of kindness that I experienced in recent days as these acts help me offset a little the high cost of living here.
First, a voucher. In my recent visit to an electrical appliance megastore to purchase an electrical appliance, I was heartened to find out that on entering the store, the store was giving out free vouchers as part of its lucky draw. I participated in the lucky draw and drew a $10 cash rebate voucher (for a minimum $19 spend). I used the voucher for the electrical appliance that I bought and saved myself $10! I Thanked the electrical appliance megastore for helping to offset the high cost of living folks like myself am experiencing.
Second, on weekends, one supermarket usually has a packet bread promotion where if one were to purchase a certain brand of bread, he or she will receive another loaf of breads or buns for free. After the promotion ends on a recent weekends, I was heartened that a supermarket staff gave me for free the loaf of buns that was tied to the promotion. I recognised that the supermarket is likely to have many of these buns laying around and if they are not given away before the breads’ expiry dates, these expired buns will just add on to Singapore’s food waste. I had the buns for dinner and was happy that I managed to rescue the buns, and reduce Singapore’s food waste but also save some monies for my dinner.
I am Grateful to receive these kind acts to help me offset the high costs of living.
