Dear readers, it was reported that Frasers Centrepoint Trust (FCT) might be included into the Singapore Straits Times Index (STI) at the next quarterly review of the STI in March 2024.
Currently, FCT is in the STI Reserve List and has a market capitalisation of close to S$4 billion.
Some analysts interviewed were of the view if should FCT be included the STI, it might replace the current STI stock, Emperador due to Emperador’s low trading liquidity.
Others felt that DFI Retail Group stock could also be potentially replaced by FCT given that the stock has the lowest market capitalisation of all the STI constituent stocks. However, some analysts felt that this might not be the case given DFI Retail Group’s market capitalisation still ranks at 35th place in the Singapore’s market capitalisation, higher than the 41st position for exclusion.
Currently, among the 30 STI constituent stocks, there are 6 Reits and Trusts (or 20% of STI constituent stocks) as follows:
Capitaland Ascendas Reit
CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust
Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust
Mapletree Industrial Trust
Mapletree Logistic Trust
Mapletree PanAsia Commercial Trust
Should FCT be included in the STI too, our STI will assume more Reits and Trust in proportion.
