Dear readers, we have been seeing on TV and the mass media a plethora of advertisements touting financial and investing mobile apps. These apps enable you to leverage the technology and information provided by third-party companies to invest your monies.
I know to some, perhaps more so for the younger generations, investing via mobile apps seems pretty cool. To be seen as making monies via the flick of a finger, to transfer capital for investing via electronic means, etc, etc. But to me, not much has changed.
Basically, it all boils down to two fundamental facts of investing your monies. Either, you do it yourself (e.g. like I selecting stocks to invest myself) or you leave it to others to manage your monies.
I still remember in the past, investing funds are quite popular. And now what is popular are all the investing and financial apps. But the aforementioned two methods of managing and investing your monies are not too different. Basically, you leave it to others to manage your monies.
For investing and financial apps, while it could be said that at least you have some sort of decision, what is common nowadays is that these apps use some complex decision-making tools like AI and Data Analytics to help you come to a financial decision. In the above regard, is it not the same as others helping you to curate information for you to invest. Is it not the same as leaving your monies for others to help you manage?
When it comes to my own monies, I prefer to manage and invest it myself as these are my hard-earned monies and I take responsibility for growing my pot of monies.
