Dear readers, welcome to the second last trading week of Year 2021. Indeed, how time flies and we have not seen the more-than-a-decade-stock-markets-corrections this year, at this time of writing. However, the global stock markets have indeed turned more volatile in recent weeks.
The Singapore stocks markets, as measured by the Straits Times Index (STI) returned a 9.4% capital appreciation for Year 2021 as at 17 Dec 2021. The performance of the Singapore stocks markets is generally not too bad as this is an average performance compared to markets which have performed better and worse than us. Considered one of the worst performing stock markets for Year 2021: Hong Kong. Hong Kong HSI has returned a capital gain of minus 14.8% for Year 2021 to-date.
There is a stellar-performing stocks markets this year and this stock market returned 363% times the capital returns of the Singapore stocks markets year-to-date, or close to 400%. What is this stock markets?
Well, this stock markets is none other than the Vietnam stock market. The Vietnam VNINDEX returned 34.1% for Year 2021 to-date. Well done, this emerging stock market of Vietnam!
