CHINATOWN GREAT $2.50 CHENDOL!

Fancy a delicious unbeatable cold treat amidst the hot weather here? Try the $2.50 chendol from Chinatown!

Dear readers, fancy a Chinatown Great $2.50 chendol? Yes that is right a $2.50 chendol right in the heart of Chinatown!

I have a hectic work schedule. And that is why as part of the various ways which I destress from work, I like to go for my weekly “food jaunts” on weekends to hunt for good food that I have not tried and hopefully will come back to having more if the good food is really good.

I like to check out the many hawker centres on our island in search of hawker centre food gems: great food at great prices. Not all the food turn out good. For food which I tried and disappoint me, they will not make it to my sharing on SGStocksInvesting. On the other hand, unlike some bloggers out there, I find that there is no need to call out the names of hawker centre food is not nice after the bloggers’ attempt. For me, I may just give a generic review of my bad food experience and that is it. There is no need to finger point. Hawkers are generally an industrious lot, who try to provide good food at good prices for the masses here. In the event their food is not good, they are likely to lose customers in the long run without the need to call them out.

Recently, I was at Chinatown food complex food centre searching for good food and I come across “An Ji Xiang Hua Wen Tou Xue” stall.

An Ji Xiang Hua Wen Tou Xue

“An Ji Xiang Hua Wen Tou Xue” is Hanyu Pinyin which means to An Ji Smooth and Tasty Ice Kachang. The stall sells a couple of cold treats like ice kachang, chendol and drinks. And I settled for an Indonesia Chendol ($2.50), as per top picture to cool myself amidst the hot and humid weather.

The Chendol has a mix of different ingredients and is of a decent size. The ingredients blend well and I can say that this Chendol is unlike the very sweet types sold elsewhere. Neither does it seem to lack different ingredients. All ingredients are balanced and not too sweet and I devour the Chendol immediately in this hot weather.

To be frank, there is at least one Chendol stall in the food centre. But given a choice, I will go for what seems to be more traditional stalls first versus a stall which invents some modern take to a traditional food.
