Dear readers, BS24111X is the next 6-month Singapore Treasury Bill (T-Bill) that is open for application.
BS24111X T-Bill will have an auction date of 6 Jun 24, issue date of 11 Jun 24 and maturity date of 10 Dec 24.
So what is the expected cut-off yield of BS24111X? As usual, let us take a look at the yields of past 6-month T-bills to see whether we can get any form of estimation.
Below are the cut-off yields of 6-month T-bills with an auction date this year.
BS24110T, auction date: 23 May 24; cut-off yield of 3.65% per annum
BS24109A, auction date: 9 May 24; cut-off yield of 3.7% per annum
BS24108N, auction date: 25 Apr 24; cut-off yield of 3.74% per annum
BS24107N, auction date: 11 Apr 24; cut-off yield of 3.75% per annum
BS24106W, auction date: 27 Mar 24; cut-off yield of 3.80% per annum
BS24105X, auction date: 14 Mar 24; cut-off yield of 3.78% per annum
BS24104T, auction date: 29 Feb 24; cut-off yield of 3.80% per annum
BS24103H, auction date: 15 Feb 24; cut-off yield of 3.66% per annum.
BS24102S, auction date: 1 Feb 24; cut-off yield of 3.54% per annum.
BS24101Z, auction date: 18 Jan 24; cut-off yield of 3.70% per annum.
BS24100F, auction date: 4 Jan 24; cut-off yield of 3.74% per annum.
While year-to-date, there may be no clear trend of the cut-off yields with minimum cut-off yield at 3.54% per annum and maximum cut-off yield at 3.80% per annum, we note that starting from the 27 Mar 24 (auction date) T-bill, the cut-off yield of 6-month T-bills has been declining.
From 3.80% per annum gradually to 3.65% per annum for the latest BS24110T T-bill which was recently closed.
I believe with the trend of expected broad interest rate cuts, BS24111X T-bill will similarly have a lower cut-off yield than the previous cut-off yield of 3.65%.
With this, I project a 3.60% per annum as the minimum cut-off yield of BS24111X T-bill.
