ARE INVESTORS FLOCKING TO SAFETY?

Dear readers, let us take a look at the top performing Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) stocks for the week ended 29 Oct 21. The top five STI performers, and their weekly gains are:

Hongkong Land stock: 5.35%

YangZiJiang stock: 2.16%

Mapletree Logistics Trust: 2.02%

Frasers Logistics and Commercial Trust: 2.01%

Mapletree Commercial Trust: 1.87%

On the other side of the spectrum, the worst performing STI performers, and their weekly losses are:

SIA stock: -1.89%

SATS stock: -2.10%

Keppel Corporation stock: -2.36%

Singtel stock: -2.72%

Venture stock: -3.14%

With three of the five best performing STI stocks made up of trusts, does it mean investors are flocking to safety?  Also, we can see a number of the worst performing STI stocks being the cyclical stocks. This does reinforce the impression that investors here are getting more conservative and defensive right now.
