Dear readers, over the weekends, I went to visit the barber chain that I have been patronising for a quick haircut, at a market rate of $12.
When I went to purchase the ticket from the ticket dispenser machine as usual, I was surprised to find that the machine has been sealed off. One of the barbers told me to download the barber chain app to book a barbering slot and for payment.
To me, it was really troublesome to download an app for a haircut which I have only once in one or two months. And there are simply too many apps these days and not every business safeguards the data properly as we can see from occasional reports of data security breaches of some businesses from time to time.
I believe we have simply too many apps and there may come a day, when every purchase in future cannot be transacted via cash or via credit cards but has to be via apps. Take for example, a recent foodshop chain which mandates payment via apps in recent months and I have stopped patronising the food shop chain since the introduction of their apps.
Same as for the barber shop which I walked away, to have my haircut at $2 more at another barber chain. I have already had too many apps in my phone.
I do not mind spending $2 more for my haircut since part of the goods and services one purchases is all about experiences and for $2 more, I could have more pleasant experience of not having to do things that I do not like.
