A LOOK BACK AT MY COVID-19 CIRCUIT BREAKER DAYS AND LOOK WHAT I HAVE GOT!

Dear readers, how time flies. Singapore’s Covid-19 Circuit Breaker entered Day 51 today and how have you been? Hope that you and your family are staying healthy and safe! Next week, Singapore’s circuit breaker will be finally lifted and life will go back to normalcy slowly in stages.

When Singapore’s Covid-19 started, I have attempted to blog my daily life under Covid-19 on this blog here . However gradually, I lost track of time and here we are on Day 51 of the Circuit Breaker!

A look back at my days during Circuit Breaker in this post. Most of my time is spent working at home and with my kids.

On working from home, having worked from home for more than two months even before the Circuit Breaker started, I soon found out that the level of work stress is almost the same despite working from the comforts of home. I still experience the same Sunday blues in regard to work and work now starts the minute I switch on my work laptop.

Once the work laptop is on, the deluge of emails and the work stress follows. Meetings still resume via video-conferencing and the hours spent with my earplugs on listening to the proceeding of the meetings simply give me mild headaches. And to be frank, it seems that few in the office also expect me to be with working on the laptop every minute of each work day. But to be honest, working from home still beats working from office as home is the most enjoyable place for many. Being more of an introvert, I do not miss socializing with my colleagues anyway.

Beside working from home, I also supervise my kids with their home-based learning. And I must say the home-based learning homework for the kids is simply overwhelming. I would think going forward, the Ministry of Education should consider halving the amount of home-based learning so that kids will not be even stressed out with these homework while staying at home all hours of the days. I also feel that when kids are left free, kids will be their most creative and do the most imaginative and happiest things when they are relaxed.

To keep my kids from being too bored from just doing their home-based assignments, I have introduced them to different board games and online games, many of which are educational. For example, I re-taught myself and then taught my kids how to play Animal Chess. Yes, the Animal Chess where the Elephant can eat all animals except being eaten by the Rat. However, despite the many games introduced, my kids still prefer to watch hours and hours of Youtube cartoons!

As for myself, I keep myself entertained mainly in reading and blogging on SG Stocks Investing. The “craziest” thing I did during Circuit Breaker entertainment-wise was to bing-watch twelve episodes of a particular Hong Kong TV series within two days!I also enjoy tidying up the house and trying to find alternative ways to keep fit. To be more specific, alternative ways beside jogging to keep fit. You see, I am a regular runner and while there are no rules to bar anyone from exercising or jogging outside, the thought of running unmasked outdoors in these days is not tempting to me. Since I thought it is still possible to “catch” Covid-19 at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

jogging

In lieu of jogging, I have found a new outdoor fitness regime: brisk walking. To make up for not jogging, I now brisk walk with a mask regularly if not daily, usually for more than one hour walking to nearby places around and discovering some wonderful nature in the process.

Despite the brisk walking regime, I think I must have eaten more than I work out for my belly has grown bigger during my Covid-19 stay home days! I now resolve to reduce my tummy before I grow even fatter!

With that, I wrap up a look back at my Covid-19 Circuit Breaker days. Wishing all readers Health and Happiness! I leave you with a song that is full of energy, life, nature and vigour. A song which I personally like. Watch and listen to the music video below now! Enjoy!
