Dear readers, this morning, I went to have my favourite Lor Mee in a Bedok hawker centre and was surprised to find that the price of the Lor Mee has increased from $5 to $5.50 or a 10% increase!
I was surprised as $5 for the Lor Mee that I was used to ordering already seemed reasonable: the Lor Mee came with 8 crispy fish pieces for the $5 set.
I did not think much as I ordered the newly $5.50 Lor Mee to satisfy my craving: any analysis of the price increase can be settled later.
After I have filled my belly and started my musing over the new price: I realised that a mere 50 cents may seem not much but it represents a 10% increase from the original price!
If the stall has to increase cost, I hope the 50 cents increase was done with much analysis, rather than a method of convenience as every cent counts to all consumers in these days of increased costs.
I decided to stop visiting the Lor Mee stall as $5.50 for the Lor Mee has already crossed my threshold for this meal at a hawker centre!
